Re: [DTXpress] two iii brains questions

Looks like you'll be learning a lot about midi going
forward. If you midi one brain (B) into another (A),
B is normally just going to play the same sounds that
are in A. Normally each trigger input allows you to
specify a midi note number that is associated with it.
These numbers correspond to notes on a keyboard, so
you can find a chart that specifies which note on a
keyboard the number 55 corresponds to. Each trigger
in brain A will be assigned to a midi note number, but
since you probably only have 12 triggers, there are a
bunch of other midi note numbers avaiable. So you can
select a midi note number for the trigger in brain B
that is not being used by any of the triggers in brain
A to get a different sound. You can also select a
different voice to be used with the midi note number.
That's how the kits are set up.

Some brains are better than others! The Alesis Pro
uses all the midi note numbers available in each kit,
with a voice assigned to each. My Roland unit doesn't
seem to do that, although presumably I can assign
voices to the note numbers. Not sure about yamaha.

Good luck.
