Thanks for the suggestions.

I found the velocity curve setting.  I had it on 'loud 2'.  Setting it
to hard 2 made it almost inaudible.

Changing the attenuation on the back of the DTX1 did seem
to make the Pintech snare and kick drum louder.

I wonder why I'd need mine set to a non-default value, but you wouldn't.

Now, my biggest problem is that when I hit the kick drum hard, no
sound is produced.  You have to hit it lightly.  That was the case before
I changed the attenuation as well.  That's the 'skipping kick beats' problem
that was originally mentioned.

What adjustments should I make to hit the kick drum harder without
it dropping out?

I have never done a system reset.  I do have my patches backed up.  Is
it worth trying a system-reset?  If I then restore my patches am I restoring
something that might screw things up again?

Thanks.  Maybe I'll get to the bottom of this.
