Thanks for the suggestions.

I found the velocity curve setting. I had it on 'loud 2'. Setting it
to hard 2 made it almost inaudible.

Changing the attenuation on the back of the DTX1 did seem
to make the Pintech snare and kick drum louder.

I wonder why I'd need mine set to a non-default value, but you wouldn't.

Now, my biggest problem is that when I hit the kick drum hard, no
sound is produced. You have to hit it lightly. That was the case before
I changed the attenuation as well. That's the 'skipping kick beats' problem
that was originally mentioned.

What adjustments should I make to hit the kick drum harder without
it dropping out?

I have never done a system reset. I do have my patches backed up. Is
it worth trying a system-reset? If I then restore my patches am I restoring
something that might screw things up again?

Thanks. Maybe I'll get to the bottom of this.

Andy,

It sounds like the kick pad was overloading - hence the dropouts. I
don't know why the attenuation switch should overdo things -on my
DTXpress III it still didn't reduce the volume enough on the
ConcertCast. Maybe the attenuation switches are different on the
DTXpress I. Maybe the Gain & MVel setting still need some adjustment?

Anyway, I have posted the circuit I use for adding a 100k pot to the
ConcertCast to get the gain just right. I use Gain=99 Mvel=1 on the
DTXpress module. I settled on these values because they give me the
maximum dynamic range from the pad. I set the pot so that I have to
really whack the pad to get it to register 99% on the trigger menu.
Then even the gentlest of touches also register.

Keith.

I have found that doing the system reset is just about the first thing you should try if you're having problems with the DTX-I. It might even correct the problem with your kick. It will reset everything back to the factory preset state.

The first time I did it I had just installed a RH-130 hi-hat and couldn't get it to work properly...(I can't remember just what it was doing...too loud or too quiet or something) Anyway I reset the DTX-I then re-entered the settings for the hi-hat and presto, it was good from then on.

In your case I would Make sure I write down any global changes you have made(you have the table of pintech settings already...have you made other trigger changes?...mark them down too!)Then reset to factory, then enter the settings for the pintech drums and then try it before you do anything else... don't do any midi back-up restore of kits or anything, till you have tried it.

For your kick... before you do the factory reset...look at the %hit (in trigger settings I think)and write it down(tell us what it is too!) if it's 99% for a light hit you can use the gain to back it off till it's 80% or 90% for a very hard hit and then try how it works...then remember that value and do your factory reset and try it without changing the gain ...then try the pintech suggested value, then if it's still giving problems do this adjustment again.

come to think of it... my kick was really, really loud when I first tried it, I think I may have adjusted the gain down alot to compensate!
