This doesn't match the operation of a normal drop clutch though.
They're struck to release the top cymbal into the bottom one (so the button is pushed to 'drop the hat' into the closed pedal output)
But the way the hihat is reset to normal operation is that the pedal is depressed, bringing the rod AND the clutch down, which clips back to the cymbal and pulls it up when the pedal is next released. (so it's registering a pedal press which needs to reset the flipflop, not a button press)
