George, Well it sounds like you have done the main diagnostic checks. The factory reset should have restored the input settings to 3 zone, but just to be sure, go to the trigger edit menu (page 12 of the reference manual) and hit the snare to select it. Check the pad type is TP65-1. Another check you could do (in case the module is faulty) is to put the pad into the ride or crash inputs (6 or 7) and change the pad type to TP65-1. If it still doesn't work, it sounds like the pad is faulty. If you have access to a multimeter (to measure resistance) it is easy to check. Connect the multimeter between the connector ring and sleeve and measure the resistance. It should be high. When you press the rim switch down it should drop to either 10k ohms for one rim switch or close to zero for the other. My guess is that it will be a simple connection problem. There are two separate rim switches connected to the connector ring, with a 10k resistor in series with one rim switch. So, one rim switch failing couldn't cause the problem you have. It must be a connection problem between the PCB and the connector. If you are feeling brave there are photos in the photos section of all the pads disassembled courtesy of Oldguydrummer. You could take it apart and probably spot the problem. Keith.
