I don't know about Beheringer stuff breaking down, I've been using the setup I described for 3-4 years now with no problems. I have a pair of Truth B2031's I've use for my studio monitors for 10 years or more - and I BLAST them at times. No problems! I also have a pair of MS40's I've used OUTSIDE on my deck for the past 2-3 years to listen to music via my netbook's RF connection to my main computer in the basement. No problems! As for the drum kit - a stone gas! Love being able to dial in different sets and its great to be able to play like a wild man yet turn the volume down to accompany an acoustic guitarist!
