Re: i've tried out dtxpress but...

Hi Bo,

It is hard to say why you experienced what you did, but there are
settings to adjust the sensitivity of each pad, as well as how loud
they react to being struck. That being said, it is also possible that
you tried a used set that has been abused, and one or more of the pads
may not work too well.

The last part of my response would be, if you're looking for a used
set I wouldn't spend $1000, they can be had cheaper. New ones can be
had for around that price, but be careful - Yamaha recently upgraded
the DTXpress, adding more rack supports and upgrading 1 or 2 of the
pads to a better model. If you pay that kind of money make sure
you're not getting one that's been hanging around in someone's
storeroom for a while, at the same price you could get the newer
(better) version for from someone else. There are also many other
types of pads that can be connected to the DTXpress, you may find
yourself happier with something more sensitive for at least the
snare...

If you live in a major metro area, maybe someone in this group would
let you try a kit that's set up properly?
