My kick pad did this about 2 months after getting the dtxpress. It was never quite right to begin with, but it got real bad. how to fix it: 1: get a soldering iron. 2: open the tower. 3: resolder every connection on the pcb - the impact puts micro cracks in them that causes intermittent firing. 4: If this doesn't fix it, replace all the resistors ( about $2 at radio shack ). Sometimes the insertion machine in the factory put stress when bending the lead which separates the lead from the resistor.
