i actually had my kit hooked up to a sony audio/video control center (str-d715) (this is basically a home theater amplifier,a.k.a. a home stereo..) i had a sub scoop cabinet with a 12" woofer in it for the low end stuff(essentially the kick drum, and some bass loops) and then had a pair of advents minis that i used as somewhat satelite speakers,it actually sounded really good through it,but then i got a smaller p.a. system ,because of the need for more volume using my kit in a band jamming situation... although i haven't ever really tried to use multi media speakers on my kit,i don't know that would work really well even if they were better ones ,because the push really isn't coming from the speakers as much as the power amp itself, and in all fairness to the yamaha or any drum module for that matter they just don't really have a strong amp or preamp equipped inside the module that would be able to get a truely good quality sound that you'd probably be wanting to get.. that being said you may also have an alternative.. which would be to maybe get some half descent studio quality monitors speakers that are powered(meaning that they basically have a power amp inside the speaker cabinet.. my friend who has a studio and he had a pair that were either alesis,or yamaha(not sure which) but they were powered speakers ,and they had some descent push to them, but as far as a sub that is this way for the low-end stuff i dunno... well hopefully this may have given you a few somewhat cost friendly ideas to think about.. sam(otacon28) --- In DTXpress@y..., Aaron Johnson <animator@e...> wrote: > Do you think a set of 3 (2 satellites and a sub woofer) computer > speakers, with some decent "wattage", would work with the DTXpress for > practice purposes?
