I agree with walt. I've used both. Both seem to work equally well. The wood tips last much longer on rubber pads than brass cymbals! And I too use a lighter stick. It seems to be easier to get the full dynamic range from the system. This can be especially helpful if you are a hard hitter anyway. Since you brought it up, I have been wondering what stick choices other acoustic-to-electronic transplants have made.
