You don't need the mixer with the DTXpress. Simply plug a 1/4" stereo
plug into the aux in on the front panel. The volume adjustment knob
for the aux in allows you to mix the volume. I use my mp3 player, and
my boom box/cd player for this. Mostly I just play along to the radio
stations, but when there's nothing good on, I put on the CD.

Since I got my Peavey KB-100 amp, I run everything through the amp and
plug my headphones into the amp. This allows me to mix things a
little better. I pan all of my drum sounds all the way to the left
(63) and plug the left channel output of the DTX into channel one of
the amp. Then I pan all of my cymbal sounds all the way to the right
(63) and plug the right channel of the DTX brain into channel two of
the amp. This way I can adjust the bass and snare at the brain, all
of the drums at the amp on channel one, and all of my cymbals on the
amp at channel two.

Going from headphones to live means I simply turn up the volume on
channel one and two on the amp about three notches, and unplug the
phones. No other adjustments are necessary.
