Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

I think that part of the problem is that "stereo" is not really an 
accurate description of a piezo/switch pad. A stereo pad does not 
create a single soundfield from two point sources. "Dual" is clearly 
the better word for piezo/piezo and piezo/rim pads alike, but it's 
impracticable. Until the powers that be agree on terminology, we'll 
have to base our judgments on context or ask questions. So long as 
electronic drums remain a small niche in the music world, no one 
except the poor consumer has any incentive to promote clarity. So 
what else is new?  The same problem has reared its ugly head 
elsewhere. Witness, for example, the indiscriminate use of Dolby 
Surround, Dolby 5.1, Dolby digital, Dolby digital surround, Dolby, 
etc., all to cover a single sonic phenomenon. In the early days, 
only those few who had the playback equipment were able to register 
a complaint, and they hardly mattered.
