Mine is not a Yamaha cable but you need a cable with midi in and out and a serial connector at the other end to go in your game port on your sound card. I'm sure it will work if it's the Yamaha midi cable but if you ever encounter problem it worth to give it a try, just switch them. You also have to choose your sound card midi device, on my sound blaster live value I have to select "SB Live! Midi UART" with the DTXchange to upload or download SySex files.
