Hi guys, I'm also on the verge of (finally!) getting an Edrum kit, and I'm looking at both the DTX2.0 and Roland's V-Custom set. Musician's Gear (www.musicians-gear.com) are offering some really good prices on both - basically, I can get a more or less top of the range DTX kit (6 stereo pads, cymbals, kick tower, bar pad, bell triggers etc) for about 1400 UKP, or a V-Custom set for about the same (kick, snare, three toms, two cymbal pads and a hihat pad). Up until now I've been looking at the DTX, as I like the fact that it's quite compact (I've played on a friend's DTX1 a few times) and it's cheaper than the V-kits, meaning I can get more pads/flexibility for my money, but as I already have a Yamaha drum module (RM50) with the (very typically Yamaha) sounds I'm thinking that the V-Custom may be better in terms of sounds for me (and I know the V-kits are supposed to be better to play). Anyone who has a DTX2 - I'd like to know how the pads are configured: I know there's 8 stereo pad inputs which presumably accomodate the snare, hihat pad, four toms and two cymbals, and then there's four extra trigger channels for other stuff. Does the "bell" trigger plug into a separate trigger channel, or does it piggyback onto the cymbals trigger signal? And the bar pad - does that need a trigger input or does that go into the footpedal inputs? I guess I'm just trying to find out the maximum configuration I can have before I order the pads and run out of trigger inputs on the DTX! (Actually, my RM50 has trigger inputs too, but I'd like to keep the kit fairly self contained). Also, do leads to connect up the pads come with the DTX2/DTXpress? Anyway, just saying hello, I've been reading the archives of this list and will lurk around for a while before I finally take the plunge. I've wanted a kit since I was about 14, and I used to wear out my parents sofas with my drumsticks... :) Cheers! Ben Hall www.benhall.co.uk Akai DPS12 FAQ, Wavestation Info & Sounds
