Re: [DTXpress] Re: Hart Ecymbal II 16" dual-zone ride

2003-01-15 by Matt Pobursky

I've been quietly watching this thread, but now decided to post my
experiences.

I have a Hart MegaPro set and DTXtreme module. I'm also using the Hart
Ecymbal II's (HH, Ride, 12" and 14" crash w/choke). I've had the kit
since last September and am still tweaking/learning.

When I bought the kit (from Drumbalaya -- highly recommended -- they
are great!), Ed told me they didn't have any experience with Hart kits
mated to a Yamaha DTXtreme and I might have to do some serious tweaking
to get things all sorted out. Since I was in no hurry, I decided to
give it a go.

So far, I have everything triggering and working well except my snare.
It's close, but not quite there yet. I did however get the HH and ride
working after quite a bit of tweaking. The HH was least troublesome,
but the ride took some time. I don't have the specific settings handy
right now but I do recall I serious trouble with cross-triggering on
the bell and ride pad. I messed with the
gain/velocity/rejection/specific rejection for some time until I found
a "sweet spot". Since then, the ride works very well.

I'm swamped with work right now, but if I can sneak away a little time
I'll try to post the final trigger settings I'm using for the HH and
ride cymbals.

I had virtually no problems with the two crash cymbals, although I find
the choke function to be kind of hit/miss. Probably user error
though...
