Re: Still Looking For KAT midiKITI....hey Ed...listen to this...

Hi Jade,

Did Alternate Mode steer you to rezdrums? Now that you mention it, I
recall that Mario at Alernate Mode may have sent someone else to
them. Their price on the KITI is the same as Alternate Modes' highly
touted final close-out price for it when it went out of production.
So rez probably thinks that they can get away with it. I haven't
seen a midiKITI fetch more than $100-120 on ebay. PrePal's average
pricing for it on the used market is a whopping $69, and that's the
ballpark in my experience. People will spend more for it because
they think they have to and because it's a really good piece of
equipment. After all, it is a rare specialty item. If you don't do
your homework, you can get burned (unless, of course, you want one
so bad and so fast that $200 doesn't throw you--a distinct mode of
behavior that I know from firsthand experience). The power supply's
no big deal. If you manage to get the interface itself without one,
I'll give you the rating, and you can check your spare ones at home
or buy one from radio shack, PC connection, or whatever. Personally,
I think rez is giving you the runaround. Nobody does a song and
dance about finding a power supply if they have a customer who just
might be willing to buy without it. I may be wrong; they may call
you tomorrow and take your offer of $100. But I'll bet they don't
have one, think they know where they might get one, and are trying
to procure it to make a nice little profit for themselves. They know
drummers want them. Alternate Mode was even thinking of making it
again last year.

I have been keeping my eye out for it--the Roland, too--and will
continue to do so until we find one or you cave and get the TMC-6,
which wouldn't be a bad consolation prize. But then you might have
to start from scratch saving for the next cymbal.

Ed
