Hey zolerz, welcome to the fun world of drums!! I just started to learn double bassing after playing drums in junior high and high school five years ago. I must say that knowing how to play a set in the first place really helps in learning an additional pedal. With a single bass set up, your left foot will be learning the ways of the hi-hat. This is totally different from using your left foot to double bass. Suddenly, your left foot, which is used to opening and closing a hi hat, isn't prepared for the power and technique used in bassing. (Trust me, I'm going through that right now!) What I'm trying to say is, don't make your left foot learn two seperate methods at the same time. This will just take up more of your time learning how to play and be much more frustrating. Your gonna have your hands full without a double pedal, but soon you'll began to discover things get easier as time goes by. So I would start with one bass pedal. Learning to play is gonna be a lot of fun regardless of the number of bass drums you use and knowing how to play is even funner! Just Don't give up! --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "zolerz <zoler@a...>" <zoler@a...> wrote: > Hi --Newbie question---should a beginner start with just one bass > pedal or two? > > Thanks
