Hit pad, start song

2003-02-09 by Nicholas Carroll

Hey, thanks Underneathheaven. The page numbers in your instruction books don't match up with mine (I must have dtxpress1), but I managed to find the play/stop control instruction in section 2-6 of my owners manual/reference guide. When I hit my designated pad (Tom #1) it starts my metronome clicking at the correct speed for the main song I have selected, but it doesn't start the main song itself. So I am still a bit hazy on how to tell it to start the song specifically. Any further hints would be welcome.

I sure am glad to have found this on-line dtxpress group because I don't know anybody who owns one of these machines. The only guy (here in Adelaide, Australia) that I can approach is the guy at the shop where I bought it. And he appears to know as little as I do. I sure wish that Yamaha had worded the instructions to suite the non-technically proficient!

Hey Nick! If you have a dtxpressII, then the instructions can be
found on pages 32 and 44. However, if you don't, its pretty easy to
explain. I assume its the same procedure with the dtxpressI. First
of all, there are two types of songs, the main song, which you play
by pressing the play/stop button, and the pad songs, which can be
played by hitting the pads. However, it is possible to assign a
main song to a pad. The menu you are going to be looking for is
located in the drum voice edit mode. It is the function menu and
you will know which one it is because it will say /KIT
IN=tom//func=normal/ Here is where you can select what pad you want
to change and what function you want it to control. For example,
after tell the module you want to be in the tom pad, you can move
your cursor to /func=normal/ and select "pad song" or "play/stop"
I'm assuming you want to select "play/stop" because that controls
the modules main songs. (main songs are the songs programmed into
the module and require you to press the play/stop button.) Ok thats
how you select what pad you want to be "play/stop" and I guess you
just go into the music menu and use the pad as the play and stop
button. (The menu after this function menu has more options
for "pad songs, not "main songs.") Hope that helps!!
