It should be the MIDI Channel number. That's the channel that the xpress will be listening on for Midi commands. So that means that the key parameters on the pm16 (for each input) are: Input # (this should be set to the input you have the pad plugged into) MIDI Channel number should be 10 Midi Note Number (need to be the same as the C= value in the drum map) then on the xpress, in the user drum map, you need to assign a voice to that Midi Note number, as well as the volume, etc. If you still can't find the problem, two more things to try are to 1) there are a few general MIDI pages in the Utility menu, more towards the start of it than the drum map is - check to be sure it looks like they are set to receive MIDI information on channel 10, including Program Changes; and 2) reset the pm16, then set it up again. It is only a few parameters to put back in, and cleaning it up will not hurt. I should have a few minutes later to get on the phone with you, if this doesn't work for you.
