It is very difficult(impossible) to play a good ride pattern on the rim of a stereo pad. It is more suited to crashes and special effects. BUT if you change the pad type in the trigger setup munu, you can select a pad type that does not support a choke.Try Misc 1 or Misc 3. As for the tom/crash thing, sounds like crosstalk. Again, in the trigger setup: Specific rejection. You can set a rejection value for rejecting signals from a specific pad. You may also try a different physical placement of the cymbal pad. Scott PS remember, with electronic drums, you don't have to hit the drums as hard as acoustic drums.
