Hi Brian I'm also in London and I just purchased a DTXpress II about a month ago. I got mine from www.thomann.de and it was as cheap as I could find it - came to a touch under £700 and I got a perfectly reasonable drumstool for an extra £20 or so. Although the kit turned up fine, I was a tiny bit disappointed with the service from thomann. Their website said that 90% of their stock leaves them within 48 hours of ordering, but I guess the DTXpress must be in the remaining 10% because it took two or three weeks to arrive. They were also very slow to respond to emails (though they did eventually answer every email I sent them). I don't think it's a reason not to use them, but it's worth knowing in advance so you don't have expectations that they won't live up to. Your other questions are probably better answered by other people here who have had the kit for longer than I have. All I can say at the moment is that I'm practicing more on this kit than at any other time in my life, just because it's sitting in my front room and I can play it without driving the whole neighbourhood crazy. That makes it a good kit to learn on in my book.
