Re: [DTXpress] Re: pm-16

2003-04-03 by Daniel Rodriguez

Hello Everyone
I was reading your emails on the PM-16. I am not familiar with it, but for what I gather is a cheaper way to get more pads installed. I am correct to think that I could add, say.. 6 or 8 more pads to the kit? Is the PM-16 a drum pad like the ddpad DD-55? I am asking because I have like 6 more pads sitting around waiting for another drum module that I would love to put to good use at a sensitive $$...
Thanks
Daniel Rodriguez

Hey Scott, got yourself a PM-16 eh? Me too! Along with frustration
but that was cured with the help of this fierce group and a call
with Martin from Yamaha. To fix the problem is simple, but it
requires a factory reset of your dtxpress. This factory reset will
set all the midi stuff the way it needs to be set (in the utility
mode) and then while in utility mode you can set the midi notes to
whatever you want, while using a predefined kit, like kit number one
for example. Now in the PM-16 you need to be in Midi Channel 10,
and Midi Prog. #1 ch. 10. The midi note number is whatever number
you selected in the dtxpress to use as your extra input. Martin
suggested starting at 56 or somewhere around there as long as the
midi note number already as a sound set to it, no matter what the
sound is. You cannot use a midi note number that is set as "not
assigned." These type of midi numbers start appearing quite early
in the dtxpress so you don't have to go all the way to 56 like I
did. Once you have the correct midi note number selected in the
dtxpress and also set in the pm-16, you can go about selecting
volume and pan and decay or whatever for whatever sound you want.
(All this is done in the utility mode of the dtxpress and advance
mode of the PM-16.) If we need to we can compare all the PM-16
settings. I actually did a factory reset on PM-16 as well. I wrote
this in a hurry and not in great detail because I think you know
what your doing and can figure it out fairly easily with these
instructions. If you need more help let us know and I'll respond in
more detail but right now I gotta go. Also, what number do you have
lighted up in green on your LCD screen? Mine says 84...don't know
why.
