For me, the hardest, and somewhat most important, is to be able to let each limb, work without interferance when another limb is working.. Ehh.. You know what I mean? Practice some simple stuff, and try putting a few hard ones in here and there. Like; 1/8ths on the hihat, strict and with no pauses or shuffles, 1/2ths on the snare and Bassdrum, but with a few 1/3th notes, or other odd/hard stuff. When You can play the hard stuff, without letting the strictness of the hihat go, You've come a long way! To play with others, it's also important, that You can be very strict in overall, since the others are leaning on You, and the bass player. Try listening to the bass player and work with his flicks. For starters anyway. I recommend You to take some classes! A teacher can make You realise stuff, that You might have later, but MUCH sooner. The grip on the drum-stics, notereading, etc. It's really not that expensive, and the dough is VERY well spend! -Musicians are worth supporting, while I guess You could do without those BigMacs/Whoppers for a while, yehh? =) Calla.. > i have just recieved my DTXpress II . i have never played the drums > before but have always wanted to learn. has anyone any suggestions? > BOOKS?
