Hi fxsran (how do you pronounce that?), Dumb answers are what you've gotta watch out for. Here comes one now, I think. First of all, you can't adjust the relative balance of song and drums inside the brain, except incidentally by fiddling with the volume of individual triggers in the voice menu or the volume of the entire kit in the utility menu. The reason why you can only affect the snare and kick via the knobs on the front panel now is that you probably have the utility menu's volume control mode set to "live" instead of "practice." If you switch the setting, the accomp knob will take care of the song level and the click knob, the . . . click level. Pressing the shift button while turning those knobs in the practice setting will get you the snare and kick, respectively. By the way, the aux volume knob controls the volume of only an external device connected via aux input beside it. You can find the explanation in the manual somewhere in the "About the Song" section. Let us know if that isn't the problem. On the choke function, the parameter "pad type" in the trigger menu determines what kind of response you'll get from individual triggers. You might have accidentally set the pad type for the cymbal in question incorrectly, resulting in the loss of the choke function. I forget which type disables the choke, but it shouldn't take long finding out.
