I didn't realize you had set the pad type. I don't know what the 
problem is. I know that, as Ed says' Yamaha advertises three zones on 
ALL inputs(except 9/10, I presume.) I also know that on the original 
DTXpress, I can get the choke on any input (except the 9/10) IF the 
proper pad type is selected.
Here's one more suggestion. I don't know if pad types are the same in 
the Xpress II, but set it for Misc. 2. See what happens. Gotta have a 
choke!
