RE: [DTXpress] new product

2003-04-23 by rdamon@mckinney-usa.com

Could it be that they believe that Roland might be coming out with a new
module (TD-12) and they don't want to let it slipout what features their
module has until the last moment? Perhaps, they are designing more of
PC-based system that allows total control of the module from a PC/MAC, and
the software side of the R&D has lagged behind the hardware side as it
happens in other manufacturing industries. The fact that they have not
provided any software with the DTXpressII that would provide even basic I/O
with a PC/MAC (you have to use a third party or freeware software program to
download/upload kits, etc.) , tells me they are not strong software people
in this area, and they would probably have to contract out-of-house for
software development. You'd be supprise at just how much of that is done in
the industry. (I can't give specific examples, due to confidentialty
agreements that we have with some internationally branded industries.)

Just a thought.
