Like
many of us old guys- I am married to an (careful here) older gal. Her musical
taste has devolved to quiet Celtic stuff, (easy on the bodran). Phew.
Can
you imagine her response to having to hear that old Gretch kit? Now all she
hears is clickety clickety %$#$#, clickety clickety %$#$#. She seems to be able
to live with that.
Now
will someone tell me what TP stands for?

I started playing the DTX a little over a year ago. After 34 years of
continuous playing without any joint problems, I started to get a
pain in my left elbow. I suspected it was either CTS or just bruising
from the sheer shock of slamming a stick on the TP snare. In
February, I switched over to Pintech mesh-headed drums and the pain
is all but absent. I also switched to the Zenbals and started using
AHEAD aluminum drumsticks, which seem to help as well.
I continue to use a TP pad for both my HiHat and Ride, but to date I
have experienced no pain in the joints of my right elbow or wrist.
However, these are soon to be replaced by Zenbals as well (hopefully).
On a side note, what's with all us old guys playing e-drums? Aren't
we supposed to purists, playing little Gretsch jazz kits and using
brushes? Maybe if we did we wouldn't have all these aches and pains!
