I'm at work now so I can't give you a definitive
answer, but what I think you want to do is set up a
Pad Song. This allows you to set up a sequence of
events that are played thru the pad one event at a
time. What I did was to record a User Song - say hit
the snare and tom alternately about 4 times and then
loop the song. Assign a pad to the Pad Song you just
recorded (as one-shot) and then you can play back each
note of the song.

Hopefully someone else can explain this for you in a
bit more detail.
