The short answer is yes. Triggered perfectly with the 1st hit. (choke worked fine right away too- better feel than the Yamahas) The surface is interesting- seems to have more traction(?) than the PCY and is a bit softer for lack of a better word. It will be interesting to see how it feels side-by-side with the Yamaha wedges. Now that I am aware that there is a sweet spot for rim triggers, I understand the rationale for the wedge shape- impossible to hit the wrong side of the cymbal.

Creighton, does it respond ok when you hit the ride cymbal part of
the pad? I too am looking at buying a Zenbal China and I guess I'll
have to adjust the trigger box towards me as well huh? Let us know
