Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Anko,

Theoretically, the Roland PD120 would trigger through the Yamaha 
like any other dual-zone snare. However, at least one user has 
reported that the rim doesn't generate enough signal for use with 
the DTXPU. My gripe with it is that it is too bloody expensive for 
what it is. I have used it with Roland equipment--and liked it--but 
under no conditions do I view it as worth twice as much as other 
dual-zone snare options. If you can find the Yamaha RHP snare that 
originally came with the DTXtreme, it would be a viable alternative, 
especially at its new discount price. It, like the Roland, is a 12" 
pad. Pintech makes a 10" mesh snare, the ConcertCast 102ST, that 
many of us have used and loved. Notwithstanding its size, at $120 or 
less it's a genuine bargain. Pintech's AX14S mesh snare, which 
measures 14" and usually costs $180 new, is even better. I've had 
both; another member of this board, Scott (hairytrigger)also highly 
endorses the AX14S somewhere in the archives.
