Alas, you can't. Search back a couple of weeks in the messages here 
if you want to indulge in a little schadenfreude as I thought the 
same and was then put to rights.

In short, the stereo inputs are not what you might think at first. 
They take one piezo trigger, and a membrane switch (rim/choke). The 
switch does not trigger a sound in its own right, but modifies the 
sound triggered by the piezo. Therefore they can't be used 
independently. The only input that can be split is 9/10, for which 
you can get suitable cables from (in the UK, anyway) someone like 
Maplin. You need a 1/4" (6.5mm) stereo jack (male) to two 1/4" 
(6.5mm) mono plugs (female).
