In referrence to "Those Logiztix pads look a bit crap" I've built the AcousteX variation, which turns an acoustic kit into an electronic. It's great for practice and the Arbitter Flats kits are spot on donors for a small portable "DDrum"-esque real feel electronic kit. Having played both the DTXpress pads and my own, I have to say I'm realy pleased with my creations, they are every bit as sensative as the supplied pads, and I think they look better than those rubber coated little discs. Try building a pad or two as inputs for trigger 9/10, maybe pick up a set of second hand roto toms, these make good donors, see the Logiztix site on how to mount them in boom arms. What will it cost, 50? 100 if you buy a set of new roto's, how much do Yamaha pads cost - 100+ each? Simple maths realy. If you've got any ideas on where I can get condensors from for the rim triggers ( except the Yamaha spares department) I'd love to hear from you.
