RE: [DTXpress] Canned response

2003-08-01 by rdamon@mckinney-usa.com

Zilla,

We all appreciate your galiant effort...but like I said earlier. Emails to
the advertisers (MONEY) and CNN (BAD PRESS) are the only way to make this
type of major policy change occur.

Of course we could always have everybody move from here to dtxpression site
and then create seven hundred and thirty two new yahoogroups that are a
variant of this one with seven hundred and thirty two new yahoogroups
moderators. Then each moderator could post one message to his/here group per
day (basically, a reply to the previous days post, saying " yea, good idea")
and consume yahoo storage space and bandwidth.

Back to reality though, So, basically the only way to eliminate the spam is
to open a new yahoo dtx group with restricted membership and move from here
to there. The only problem is that there is a wealth of information in the
past 5000+ post to this group that would be lost forever if this one dies
and is closed. Of course, we move to a dtx restricted membership group, we
would loose the non-registered members that read only and we would find out
very quickly whether there are really 700+ members still in this group or
just 100-200.

p.s. Zilla, what is the effort required on a daily basis to properly
moderate a restricted membership list. How can you tell if someone is really
legit to allow in. Or do you basically allow all in and after their first
spam post, then nuke them from the membership?
