Ed,

True, the DTX2 has adequate control parameters, but a live sound engineer's request for seperate outputs is not unreasonable.

Whilst playing live I use a blend of miked acoustic drums and the samples that they trigger. Say the guitarist starts to dig in more suddenly during a song. I may not notice a small lift in volume so my engineer raises the mike level and the sample level. Total control at his end means a satisfactory blend of the two sounds.

Even at a constant volume, he'll be able to tweak the blend based on a songs changes for a sonically fuller sound.

What you hear through a moniter is always different to FOH. It would be crazy not to have quick and easy access to every sound source. Would your engineer seriously let you play live without that kind of control?
