Re: 1) MIDI basics w/DTXpress 2) Why doesn't text wrap on this message board?

I don't know if I can give a "primer" but I can tell you how I'm set up. I
have a MIDI/computer cable consisting of a MIDI "in" and "out" on one end
and a connection for the "joystick" connection on my soundcard on the other
end. This should be available at any decent music store. Since my kit is
not right next to the computer, I have the DTXpress hooked up to two 20'
MIDI cables, in and out. I bought two MIDI female-to-female adapters to
connect those two cables to the MIDI computer cable. To upload and download
sysex files (user patches), go to http://www.onelist.com/files/DTXpress/.
Giles has uploaded 2 good programs that will work. To play along with
downloaded MIDI files you'll need a sequencer of some sort. Do a little
research on the web and find one that is right for your needs. I've used
Cakewalk, Cubase VST and Digital Orchestrator Pro with success. There may
be others that suit your needs and price range better. A good place to
start looking would be http://www.synthzone.com/midiseq.htm.

As far as wierd message wrapping goes, this is the first I've heard of it.
Do all of them do it or just sometimes, or just certain people? I haven't
experienced it myself but I'd be happy to investigate further. Let me know
specifically when it happens and I'll try to help.
