Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi Brett,
In terms of recreating your acoustic setup with the DTXpress, you 
lose out in the cymbals. It's not too bad, though, as you can still 
do 4 toms, snare, hi-hat, and three cymbals (using the splitter 
on 9/10). You'll need 2 more pads to do this but that's still less
$$ than buying a different or additional module. If you had that kind
of cash, you probably wouldn't be looking at a DTXpress. There
would still be room on the rack for this setup also. 

I've actually been thinking about splurging on a dual-zone snare 
to get the rim performance and use my snare pad to add a tom. Pintech 
has some really good silent pads and cymbals if you're going to add 
gear to the boxed DTXpress. 

I think no matter what, you will find that you are compromising
something going to e-drums, but you really gain in the flexibility
of sounds available and different kits that you can create. I think
it liberates me to be able to have so many sounds at my fingertips.
