Actually, I prefer the pedals with plates on them and not the rods, as I feel they're more stable that way. The nice, decent ones with plates are going to run you quite a bit more than that, more like about $70 and up. If I were you, I would do what I did. I did without pedals because I didn't have the drum kit at the time, so I picked out a pair of plated double pedals (not that one-plated, one-rodded arrangement), put down as much money as I could without running out of gas or starving, and then paid it off about two months later. I think they're worth it, because I use them by themselves at least an hour a day, and that doesn't include the drumset playing in addition to that. Stephanie
