Ashleighhk, You could always start out with a used module and a snare pad and practice rudiments, rudiments, rudiments. Once your parents see that you are actually willing to stick with it for several months, as oppose to it being just another whim, that lasts for a week, they may be more likely to come to some finaicial agreement with you for a whole kit.
