RE: [DTXpress] Re: DrumXtreme/Soul

Hi Ed,

I agree: A review of a drum set by a PC magazine is pretty useless, like
Cosmo reviewing cars. The set is evidently just another input device like a
keyboard or a web cam. I find it interesting that distributor chose to
provide a PC magazine with a test kit.

The most glaring absence in the kit seems to be a hi-hat pedal and the
reviewer didn't seem to notice. I see that one is offered as an option, but
golly it seems to be a basic item. I know it's a poor craftsman who blames
his tools, but my sense is that this pretty close to the drum sets they sell
at Toys R Us.

Creighton,

Nice find. But since PC World ain't staffed with drummers, the
information isn't fully credible. Granted, this kit is aimed at
beginners and possible practice under strained condtions for more
seasoned users, but some of the points that the article makes don't
seem to understand the strides that e-drums have made. A review from
an actual e-drummer's perspective might be valuable, to someone at
least. Specifically, how much distance is there between this kit and
entry-level kits for serious drummers?

Ed
