Ok, here's the plan so far: I'm doing a big haunt this year in the front yard of my house, culminating in a two story tall castle tower complete with a dungeon door with a "speak-easy" type sliding window (about 12"x24") in the center of the door. Beneath the window is a big old-time looking door knocker (no knockers jokes please, yes I saw Young Frankenstein... "Frau Blucher!" --extra points if you whinny here!) :) that I have placed where the knocker impacts with a small square of wood. Beneath this wood block, I mounted a piezo element. This piezo is then connected via wire through a hole cut in the door to the DTXpress module inside the house. The module in turn goes to a 16 channel mixer and then to a 400 watt amp to four 12" speakers placed around the outside of the house. When someone knocks using the knocker, the DTXpress will make a *very* low tom with a HUGE reverb sound, makes for a very convincing "BOOM BOOM" type knock that is more than a bit unnerving. Combine this with the stormy night rain/wind/thunder track and the Midnight Syndicate music and you've got some scary approach to the door! Of course, when the sliding widow slams open and the animatronic skull pops up and talks to the trick-or-treators and then gives candy from a gaunt hand, even the boldest of tricker-or-treators should be cringing! :) Just thought u guys would be entertained by the use of the module... I'm also gunna experiment with the sounds in the module to see if I can get "thunder on demand" using a midi keyboard and some of the internal sounds.. Ok, off to experiment! :) -- Vern Graner CNE/CNA/SSE | "If the network is down, then you're Senior Systems Engineer | obviously incompetent so why are we Texas Information Services | paying you?
