It's basically a convenience for making use of 9/10. If you want to add a mono pad to the kit, you would normally need a stereo (TRS) splitter for 9/10. But if you use a stereo cable from the KP65 into 9/10, then plug a mono pad into the KP65 input, you'll have the kick on 9 and the mono pad on 10 (or the other way around, I forget). If you don't plug a pad into it, a mono cable into the kick input is all that's needed. Stewart
