The secondary considerations--like freebies and shipping cost--may be the deciding factor. Midwest Percussion, of which I am particularly fond, is also offering $240 worth of extras with the kit--a Yamaha kick pedal and throne. Musicians Buy adds a different kick and throne, as well as a set of headphones, to the standard kit, but I personally like Midwest's choices better. SameDayMusic has the kit for $1000, with no extras, but the shipping is free. Rik's Music has always offered great deals, and extras, but you have to call them at 877.222.7457 for information. As always, Drumbalaya is competitive; they also offer a degree of personalized service that is unmatched--a very attractive extra in the e-drum world, especially for novices. Be forewarned, however, that the DTXpress is currently backordered at many web stores. Ed
