Probably E-bay. But, I asked where I could get the best prices on a
new set, because I would prefer a new one. I don't know where I'm
buying from, that's why I asked. =)

The advertised prices for the kit seem to be locked at $995. The
secondary considerations--like freebies and shipping cost--may be the
deciding factor. Midwest Percussion, of which I am particularly fond,
is also offering $240 worth of extras with the kit--a Yamaha kick
pedal and throne. Musicians Buy adds a different kick and throne, as
well as a set of headphones, to the standard kit, but I personally
like Midwest's choices better. SameDayMusic has the kit for $1000,
with no extras, but the shipping is free. Rik's Music has always
offered great deals, and extras, but you have to call them at
877.222.7457 for information. As always, Drumbalaya is competitive;
they also offer a degree of personalized service that is unmatched--a
very attractive extra in the e-drum world, especially for novices. Be
forewarned, however, that the DTXpress is currently backordered at
many web stores.

In the interests of fair play, zzounds is also offering the kit for
the same price, with free shipping, although it is out of stock at
the moment.

Another option, is what I did. I found the best deal on the web and then
printed out the quote and took it to my local Guitar Center and they matched
the deal. At the time, someone was offering the DtxpressII+kick
pedal+throne+headphones+instructional tape for $995. GC didn't have the tape
but I got extra sticks instead. They had everything in stock and I took it
home that day and was up an running that night.

I might have just got the deal of a life time, A dtxpress for $515
on ebay. At first the seller said that he was unable to change the
sounds of anything but the bass pedal. After a few emails back and
forth, he had figured it out. I'll be anxiously awaiting the
arrival to see what really works and what doesn't. I'll combine
this with my dtxpress2 to match the acoustic set I had many years
ago.
