Re: GM sound settings

2003-10-16 by docdrum_s

Perry,

I had exactly the same problem this week with saving a GM drum kit.
Must be something in the ether. Everything was perfect during set-up
but wouldn't save. When I went in to look at each parameter in the
newly "saved" kit for "correctness" I noticed that all was cool
except for the midi note number. What seems to have happened was that
the actual note voice (ie, A, G, E etc) I had programmed in was OK
but the note number was wrong by octaves. In other words, although I
originally set-up an A4, G4, etc. it got saved as A0, G0 etc. By
going in and editing only the note # again (don't re-input the midi
channel, PC etc.) and then saving I was able to save the kit
…..bagpipes this time. Be interesting to know if you have the similar
readings, ie, wrong octaves but "right" note voice. (I have no idea
why after striking a pad you reverted back)

I don't know what the heck was the problem as I had NO trouble before
setting up and saving a steel-drum kit using the same procedure from
Martin at Yamaha that I posted.

Anyone else have a similar problem. Is there something here we're
missing?

Rich
