On the framing error, some sort of initial sync is out of whack, I 
guess. I'm not sure what to make of it, but was the dtxpress already 
turned on when you made the MIDI connections? What happens if you 
turn off the DTXpress, as well as your computer, and start the 
process from scratch? That's the only thing that I recall being 
relevant to the problem.

As for the pad song volume, forgive me if I've missed the boat, but 
doesn't the accomp knob on the front of the module control song 
volume when you're in "Practice" (Utility Mode 1-3)?
