Paul, Dave Jewell was slightly cagey about what the IIISP would offer when we bagged him, asking us to wait until January for the full story, but the Japanese web page about its launch probably says it all: a couple of three-sound (bow, edge, and bell) round cymbals, the new hi hat on a traditional stand, and a brand new shiny rack that collapses with pads. We're also guessing, based on the chip that OGD was able to procure from Yamaha for his kit x 3, that all of the inputs will allow cymbal choking. The Japanese website also says something about the cymbal samples being improved. We're not exactly sure what that means--maybe that they underwent noise reduction. No technical improvement in the basic electronics seems to be in the offing (still 16 bit, 44khz), and I doubt that new samples are included. The STD version of the III seems to be the same as the II, except for the rack. Did I leave anything out? Ed
