If you have a Sound Font capable card in the PC you could just create a 
kit for yourself and use almost any sequencer package.
Or you could use a stand alone virtual sampler software, such as this: 
http://www.maz-sound.com/vsampler/english/index.html

The only thing that may dissapoint you is the latency between pad strike 
and PC sound. All depends on your system and set-up.
