Hi Brett,

Tom placed spring clips on the cymbal so that he could remove the
heavy jack from the cymbal for more even response. When I started
using Visu-lites, I had them connected to my DTXpressI module. My
first reaction was completely unlike yours. I believe that the pad
type that I used was miscellaneous 2, and I also may have had the
DIP "attentuation" switch in the back of the module in the up
position, thoguht I don't think that would have made much difference.
Check the obvious voice and trigger settings, raising them as
necessary. Check the cable as well and try another input. If you
strike the cymbal on the acrylic near the spring clips, is the level
still low? If nothing helps, it's possible that a wire is loose. Did
you buy it from Drumbalaya or from Visu-lite directly?
