It would be an exaggeration to say that I flat-out didn't like it.
You may be perfectly satisfied with it. Its general response seemed
slightly subdued to me, and the edge didn't always fire reliably. I
haven't used a stereo (bow/edge) cymbal in some time, but I tried a
lot of them. In general, attempts to activate the edge sometimes
triggered either the bow voice or no voice. Also, strikes on either
bow or edge could sometimes activate the choke, cutting off the voice
much too quickly. Many of these mishits could be attributed to poor
stick placement (sticking is simply not the same for e-cymbals as it
is for acoustics), but design certainly bears some responsibility.
The CY-6 wasn't necessarily worse in this respect than other stereo
cymbals; they all have their quirks that require time and effort to
tame. I recall having much more luck with the Zenbal stereos out of
the box, though other people have reported frustration with them, too-
-at least for a while. Stephen Brown has been a longtime happy Zenbal
user; you can find his review of the Pintechs in our files section.
From what other members have written on this board, the Yamaha PCY65S
cymbal is not so prone to the difficulties that I found routine a
couple of years ago.

One unfortunate thing about buying e-drum components is the general
inability to try them out first. We often depend on third-person
reports on boards like this one to get an idea about what we might
like. But the advice only works to the point where the personal
element takes over, and that is not always easy to determine. My
humble suggestion would be to keep the Rolands. Maybe when you get
more familiar with, or more curious about, other options, you'll want
to trade them for something else, but in the meantime, they will
probably serve you well. If eventually you think otherwise, a market
for them should still exist.
