My current favourite (as seen on TV ... well, WMV anyway) is:

V=1 S006 MapleA50 Vol=100 Fc=-8
V=2 S019 MapleRim Vol=90 F=-32
X Fade=8

Any parameter I haven't listed is default. This gives me a velocity 
cross-faded rimshot as I use a Pintech SE102 pad for the snare, 
which has only one rim which I use for sidestick.

I have several others for different purposes (practicing rudiments, 
for example) but that's the #1 choice for "real" playing.
